Connecting Clamps for Reinforcements
In accordance with the German standard DIN 18014: 2014-03 Fundamenterder – Planung, Ausführung und Dokumentation (Foundation earth electrode - Planning, execution and documentation), foundation earth electrodes have to be connected with the reinforcement of the foundation slab at intervals of 2 metres. Of the various connection possibilities, clamp connections have turned out to be the most economic as they can be implemented quickly and easily on site.
According to the current lightning protection standards, reinforcing steels should, among other things, be used as natural components of the down conductor system. The table below provides an overview of the nominal and outer diameters as well as cross sections of the reinforcing steels DIN EN 10080: 2005.
